Come See "Beauty and the Beast" This Weekend!

Under the direction of student Julia Nurenberg, Schmucker MIddle School proudly presents Beauty and the Beast!

We are so impressed by how hard our Spartans have worked to create this wonderful student production!

Students will be performing in the Schmucker cafeteria. The show times are Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 at 6:00 PM. Adult tickets are $5. Student admission is $3 and preschool children are free.

Students will also be selling light up roses for $5.

Schmucker bands & orchestras earn Gold Ratings at 2019 ISSMA competition

This past weekend Friday, March 15th and Saturday, March 16th Penn High School hosted the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Middle School Band and Orchestra Festival. Penn hosted 34 middle school groups, including 18 from P-H-M’s Discovery, Grissom and Schmucker Middle Schools.

 

Of the 18 P-H-M Orchestras and Bands that participated, 17 of these ensembles received Gold Ratings! In addition, 11 received superior scores indicating a “With Distinction” status! 

 

SMS Circle the State with Song 2019

This past Saturday, February 23rd, at 4:30 PM, 15 students from Schmucker Middle School performed with students from nearby schools in a combined mass choir of 190 singers in the Circle the State With Song Festival! The festival and performance was held at the Goshen College Performing Arts Center.

Penn presents "Tuck Everlasting" March 1-3

Penn High School is bringing the famed children’s book “Tuck Everlasting” to the stage. This musical adaptation is a show that the whole family can enjoy

 

The Penn Fine Arts and Communications Academy is presenting, “Tuck Everlasting, the Musical” on the following dates:

 

  • Friday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 2, 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 3, 3:00 p.m.

 

Gold and Silver for SMS Band and Orchestra Students at ISSMA

Several of our band and orchestra students  participated in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble at Northwood High School this past Saturday. We had 58 soloists, and 40  ensembles perform. Students were given ratings and feedback from the judges with a score to determine the rating for their performance. The top performance score is Gold, followed by Silver, and Bronze.

SMS Vocal Groups do well at ISSMA

Some of our students had the pleasure of participating in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble at Clay High School in South Bend on January 26.

We had two piano soloists who both got Gold ratings, two vocal ensembles who got a gold and a silver rating, and seven vocal soloists perform, 5 of whom got a gold rating and 2 a silver rating.

Winter Guard Call-Out November 27 at Bittersweet Elementary

Do you like to dance? Do you want to learn how to spin a flag? Do you like to perform?

 

All levels are welcome to come to the Penn Winter Guard Call-Out at Bittersweet Elementary School (next to Penn HS). The call-out will be on Tuesday, November 27th at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

 

Girls and boys, grades 4-12, will be accepted.

Congratulations to Mr. Carnall’s Bands and Mrs. Carnall’s Orchestras, who performed this past weekend at the ISSMA contest.
 
The 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra's received Gold "With Distinction".
 
The 6th and 8th Grade Bands also received Gold "With Distinction" as well.
 
The 7th Grade Band received a Gold rating. (They missed "With Distinction" by a few points)
