National Junior Honor Society

The purpose of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship,to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship in the sutdents of secondary schools.

How do I join NJHS?

Applications will be mailed home to all seventh and eighth grade students who meet the GPA requirements.  Applications will arrive in early November.

For the 2014-2015 school year, the GPA requirement will be a 3.5 for 5 consecutive grading periods for eighth grade applicants.  The GPA will be a 3.6 for 5 consecutive grading periods for seventh grade applicants.

For the 2015-2016 school year, the GPA requirement will be a 3.6 for 5 consecutive grading periods for seventh and eighth grade applicants.                                     

In other words, students who are in sixth grade during this school year, will need to have a 3.6 for 5 consecutive grading periods to qualify to receive an application for NJHS.

Candidates must meet a minimum requirement in the area of leadership (1 position from grades 4-7 for seventh grade applicants, 2 positions from grades 4-8 for eighth grade applicants), and service (2 activities from grades four through seven for seventh grade applicants, three activities from 4-8 for eighth grade applicants) calculated from the activity questionnaire.
