CIRCLE THE STATE WITH SONG
Circle the State With Song is an Indiana Music Educators Association sponsored Children's Choral Festival. There are 13 festival sites throughout the state of Indiana that perform the same repertoire in February and March to exemplify circling the state of Indiana with song.
Our students , selected by audition, join with 150 middle school students from Northern Indiana under the direction of a professional clinician for a full day culminating in a combined performance that afternoon.
The purpose of this festival is to provide:
-students with an exciting and quality choral experience with other students from Northern Indiana.
-an opportunity for honor music students who are ready for more challenging music to work with guest choral clinicians.
-music teachers an opportunity to observe and learn from the clinician working with the students, plus to share and discuss vocal pedagogy with other teachers.
-quality children's choral repertoire for students to sing.
Auditions for the Circle the State With Song choir are held in early September with daily repertoire rehearsals beginning in January. This festival is held in the beautiful Music Center at Goshen College on the last Saturday of February. The performance is open to the public.
