Our SMS Student council sponsored two events to raise money for local organizations. One was a Down Syndrome Awareness Day. SMS staff and students showed their support by wearing yellow and blue as yellow and blue are the colors for this initiative. Donations were collected in all advisory classes, and during all lunch periods, Student Council members sold blue packs of gum for $1.00, blue SMS water bottles for $3.00, and yellow and blue bracelets for $2.50. All money that is raised will be donated to the Michiana Down Syndrome organization. We raised $655.24!!!!
Student Council members also sold gum to raise money for cancer research. To help the American Cancer Society, we raised $255. 64!!!! Thank you to all the Student Council representatives that volunteered, and the students, teachers, and families that donated money for these two great causes! TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
